Skin condition that surfaces on the peristomal skin or on the stoma itself. Granulomas are red lumps that at times can break out and bleed impairing ostomy pouch usage. They can be the result of friction between ostomy pouch and skin; slow healing of the stoma, or Intestinal Metaplasia. They are treated most effectively with silver nitrate. During their eradication, it is advisable to use stoma paste to allow ostomy pouch adhesion and gels to avoid friction.
