Purchased to remove lime rings in toilets. With extraordinary effort to limit the dilution effect of water the toilets were flushed and CLR concentrate was used with a pad and applied liberally. Without flushing the scrubbing and additional application was done three more times on three toilets. All of which were new 3 year ago. The reduction in lime build up on the water line was perhaps 40 - 50% after an hour of continuous application and scrubbing. The result was just fair. Not great as expected. Personally there has to be a better product out there. Otherwise muriatic acid used with great

i have a porcelain sink with a rust ring around the base as a result of the metal from the stopper piece touching the sink (there should be a rubber part that prevents these two from touching---and has since been repaired). i got this cleaner to try to remove the rust ring. i tried the 50/50 dilution at first with no avail, despite scrubbing away at the rust with a toothbrush after letting the cleaner sit on it for like 15 minutes. i then let the cleaner undiluted sit on the rust for 1 hour and still did not get all of it up with scrubbing. fairly convinced that this cleaner is not doing what

CLR for toilet woes
CLR fixed our toilet!!! We have a 5 year old Toto toilet (worth around $800 CAD) that we inherited when we bought our house two years ago. It started to not flush well about six months ago but we couldnt figure out why. Turns out there was calcium and lime build-up in the front of the toilet at the bottom, where it sends out water with force from the tank, but the build-up was inside the tunnel- thing (sorry, I dont know the name for it!) where the water shoots out and not that evident from just having a look from above. A plumber helped us out virtually and asked us to take a picture and vide

For years, I had a calcium ring, cement color, in the toilette. Brushing it with all kind of products like Comet, using heavy-duty elbow grease and applying man-muscle power didn't do a thing. That pesky stubborn ring would stay for years. I do my own detailing on my cars and could not believe could not win at a toilette challenge. Now, with the covid claustrophobia I went mad [ok... madder] and decided to attack the calcium ring stain. I did my web studies, and had two choices, this product or the Lime-a-Way. Hard Mineral Stains GONE!
I was so disgusted with one of our toilets, no matter what I used in it to clean it, there was this hard build-up in the bottom. The toilet is a newer style and not old enough to be replaced. Cleaning the past week, I decided to see what some CLR would be able to do to it. So I poured, probably 2 cups of CLR into the bowl and closed the lid. About 3 hours later, I went back and flushed the toilet. I can't tell you how happy I was from that flush and the CLR!! There was just a tiny spot left in the bottom, which came right off with the toilet bowl brush!! It is pristine now!

I have used this product for several years. Whenever I encounter calcium build up on plumbing fixtures, this product has always removed these deposits with ease. I recently used the CLR to remove the calcium line on my swimming pool tile. After applying with a garden sprayer, I let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. I then pressure washed the tile and was pleased to see it had removed the mineral deposits. It is much safer to use than acid. Try the product on a small test area before covering a large area. Some deposits are very stubborn and may require more elbow grease with an abrasive pad and a

Not as good as I had expected
I bought the CLR to remove the calcium buildup inside my cordless kettle. I followed the instructions exactly as written and it didn't work. Yes, I had a thick buildup, but I thought multiple applications would do the job. Well, they didn't. By multiple applications I mean I used the whole CLR bottle on the one kettle. Out of frustration, I decided to try a suggestion I found on the internet. I put vinegar inside the kettle and left it overnight. Guess what, next morning there was no calcium left.

CLR vs a Navel Jelly for rust removal/conversion
I used it to remove rust from grills. A automotive rust remover like naval jelly would have been better. Often these have phosphoric acid that converts the rust to a black oxide ( Iron III oxide) and can be rinsed away thus stops/slows corrosion. CLR did work to a degree. It is lactic and gluconic acid and still left rust behind that needed a lot of wire wheel work and sanding. Canadian Tire has Gelled Rust Remover that would have worked better.

Lives up to the manufacturer's promise. Could not release vanity faucet assembly because of lime/calcium buildup. Soaked item for a fifteen minute period and was amazed at the result. Original brass appeared, mounting hardware softened up and then was able to disassemble. Running the item under warm water restored the faucet assembly's original bright finish, replaced worn valve cartridge, reassembled fixture with no further problem. I cannot understand the difficulty described by others in cleaning a shower head. This product will do the trick, absolutely. It's great, the price is reasonable

Works well.
Used in shower cubical to remove soap & calcification around shower mixer. Sprayed undiluted form from spray bottle. Let it sit for 3 minutes, then used soft wet sponge soaked in water rub solution off, followed by cold rinse. Works pretty well, everything sparking clean. Use good quality face mask & eye protection, will burn eyes, throat & lungs. Otherwise recommend this product.

Well.... I've used CLR in the past in coffee makers and humidifiers successfully. We are now a couple of months into the Covid-19 epidemic. Our church in the Texas Hill Country has wisely decided not to have people meeting on the church campus for the past two months. This is important because we are in an area not yet served by city water. Hence we have a reliable well, and because of the subterranean lime stone we have extremely hard water with a lot of calcium. The toilets in our facilities were not flushed often enough and had a heavy lime building in the bowl. I tried a 50/50 water CLR &

What else is there?
CLR, for those who just got here is basically an outstanding product. No jokes. Just great. There must be others other there than do about the same thing, but CLR Is the best known and the one I trust most to get the job done, without destroying anything. It could be a bit more powerful IMO, but as-in? I am very happy with it. I am always looking for it to go on sale to get more.

Best thing for limescale, depending on the surface
I've used the product for many years. It's not great, but it's better than just about anything else on limescale. It's not working so great on my fiberglass tub. Short of really strong acid or scrubbing, it's the best. I'll just have to work on it a few times.

Okay, I know what the instructions tell and that you are not supposed to use it on copper, aluminum, etc. But I was getting tired of my heater not working in our brutal Saskatchewan winter. I flushed the system many times during the last 2 years and tried many different solutions, all in vain. My radiator (heater core) was always clogged and was blowing icy cold air. So I decided to try this CLR stuff. Again, I was aware of all the risks, the last thing I wanted was to do any damage to my heater core. I disconnected the hoses from the heater, drained the antifreeze, then diluted this product w

I have used CLR for at least a decade, and while it has never worked all that well on rust, it no longer works at all, and it barely works on lime. Cleaned a nasty toilet like new. AMAZING!
I've used this stuff before with moderate to good results. But this time I had the ultimate challenge. We have hard water in the Midwest. That means a brownish calcium builds up in fixtures (toilets, sinks, tubs) unless they are regularly scrubbed -- and even then they can build a very hard, crusty deposit. A utility room toilet was neglected for years until the threat of company forced our action. I shut off the water valve, then used a screwdriver to chip away at the large chunks for an hour. I gave up and got the CLR. The standing bowl water was mostly scooped out, and I started brushing on

Bought it to remove a rust stain on concrete caused by rusty steel, only to find it doesn't work whatsoever. To be fair the product label does not claim to remove these type of rust stains. It claims to remove surface rust stains caused by hard water buildup which is not what most people would call rust.

Bought this as recommended for cleaning washing machines. I followed the instructions as indicated on the directions: run with CLR and run again with just water. The smell of the washing machine is much, much better; though, there' still lingering smell. I'm guessing this is due to years of use of the washing machine without cleaning it. Caution: do not follow with colored wash - as I did. I noticed that my colored-clothes have white spots, though very, very light - as if it was bleached out - but nothing major. I use this to clean the scale that builds up in my Ninja coffee bar and in my electric stainless steel tea kettle. It works extremely well, just don't use too much when you run it through the coffee maker (use about 1/2 up to 1 ounce of CLR per 10 cups of water)because it will foam up and come out of there vent on top. If you have an electric tea kettle I advise not to run it through while it's on, instead dilute a little CLR with some hot water and let sit in the bottom of the tea kettle powered off, then rinse well.

Slow flushing toilet
Used CLR to help with a slow flushing toilet. Cleaned out the little return holes along the rim with an alum wrench. Then drained toilet. After draining poured the CLR into the overflow tube in the tank and watched until it also filled main fill hole at bottom. Let it set for 15 minutes then turned water back on and flushed. Toilet is working properly. This is a 30 year old toilet and I love that it holds 3 gallons of water. I have a 40' run to the street so not comfortable with 1.1 gallons of water to do the job.
