Caregivers Aide - SSN - Slip Sheet / Slide Sheet

Nylon material placed under the patient or Bed Sled to make repositioning a patient easier.
Instructions:
It can then be put under the patient. The open edges get tucked under the patient.
If the patient is already on the Bed Sled, using the Bed Sled handles farthest from you, roll the patient onto his side so he faces you. Stand against the bed with your legs keeping the patient from rolling out of the bed.
With the Bed Sled still rolled, continue holding the patient, fan fold the slip sheet and position it against the back of the patient. Tuck the open edges under the Bed Sled between the Bed Sled and the bed sheet as far as you can.
Roll the patient onto his back and roll him slightly away from you so you can grasp the edges of the slip sheet from under him and smooth out the slip sheet to lay flat. The open end should be in front of you.
Return the patient onto his back, then use the Bed Sled handles to move/reposition the patient.
The Slip Sheet can remain under the patient, but the patient may slide more than desired.
To remove the slip sheet after the patient is moved, roll the patient onto his side again and pull the slip sheet out from under the patient. If the Slip Sheet is doubled, it will pull out easily if you pull the layer that is on the bottom. Pull the bottom and the top will follow.
Please be careful not to slide patient out of the bed.
If you have guard rails on the patient’s bed, make sure they are raised and secure so the patient will not roll off the opposite side.
When moving or rolling patient towards you, always have the guard rails up, or your legs against the bed to prevent the patient rolling out of bed.
